Under 16's Winter Coaching - 22nd January 2023
At a frozen Burnham and Berrow, 10 of the county under 16's squad attending their second Winter training session. This time we used the skills and expertise of Will Poole to assist the lads with strength and conditioning, both to do throughout the season but also as part of their warm up pre playing or practicing. Due to the putting green being closed, we went inside to hold the putting sessions, under the expert tuition of Joe Bray, who used Capto technology once more to assist. Sam Hughes drew the short straw and coached the squad outside on the frozen range! Each player only had one hour outside, however, my thanks to Sam for his commitment to all 5 sessions throughout the day.
We have tried to bring new things into Winter coaching this year; things which the players might not ordinarily seek assistance with. Sessions seem to be going well, with all the squad taking things away to work on.
Next session 5th March at Long Sutton, where we will be tweaking the sessions again.
We have an upcoming fixture versus the Somerset County Girls on the 2nd April on the Channel Course at Burnham, to assist us with team selection for the season as well as trying out some foursomes pairings for the year. Spectators most welcome. Format of the day will be 9 holes foursomes in the morning and 18 holes singles in the afternoon.
