After much consideration and environmental respect, the SGU in conjunction the SLCGA look to further minimise the use of plastic.
Having introduced the County Card in a digital format we are pleased to announce its uptake has been successful, over 4500 downloaded to date.
In 2019 there were 12000 plastic county cards printed and circulated around the county, many were never used; all will have become landfill.
In 2022 the number of plastic cards printed was reduced to 5000, many of which were never distributed as demand fell.
Our eventual aim is to do away with the plastic card all together and we encourage the use of its digital twin.
We are also fully aware that the digital age is not an option for some as yet, we also feel that there are others who could go digital but prefer to retain the plastic card.
The current plastic card expires on the 31st March 2024, the digital version should automatically update, on a few occasions this hasn't been achieved, if this happens to you it can be quickly overcome by deleting your current app and re-uploading it (How to upload County Card County Cards :: see below)
For those who rely on the plastic card we have ordered 1000 (Red)) degradable cards for circulation soon. The cards should only be used when the digital option is not achievable.
The New cards will be valid for 1 year only and will expire 31st March 2025, when review will take place to determine any future need of plastic use.
Please assist the SGU & SCLGA to facilitate the minimal use of the plastic card wherever possible, many clubs seek to minimise plastic and we applaud your efforts.
Plastic Card (Purple)was valid until 31st MARCH 2024.
