Fosseway Golf Club and Mentoring Plus – 2025

Somerset Golf Union Special Project grant assists Fossway GC in 2025.

The club are really going the extra mile: 

Saturday, 1st March 2025 marked the beginning of a valued partnership between Fosseway Golf Club and Bath-based charity Mentoring Plus.

Mentoring Plus supports young people across Bath & North East Somerset who are facing a variety of challenges. They work with 5–25-year-olds, helping them feel connected through award-winning mentoring schemes, youth clubs, and inspiring activity programmes within the local community.

Our launch event featured club members, mentors, and mentees participating in a nine-hole Texas Scramble competition. Club members generously provided sets of clubs for the mentees – many of whom were experiencing golf for the first time. The weather was perfect, and a fantastic day was had by all.

A presentation was held, during which Ruth Brown and John Harvey from Mentoring Plus spoke about the charity and its incredible work supporting young people. Prizes were awarded to all the mentees.

Ongoing Commitment

To welcome any Mentoring Plus mentees and mentors to play with a member free of charge at any time.

Throughout the season, many rounds of golf have been played. In April, more mentees came to play for the first time. They enjoyed the experience so much that several have since returned regularly.
